Seeing You

11m Short, Documentary, Experimental 2020

Over 300,000 “unaccompanied migrant children” have been detained by the US Government since 2008. “

“Seeing You” is a collaboration with José Orozco, a survivor of migrant child detention turned whistleblower and activist. The video juxtaposes Jose’s testimony and original music with images of a community ceremony at the site of his detention, a facility hidden in plain sight in the midst of a middle class residential neighborhood.

This video is part of a series entitled “No Shelter”, combining documentary, experimental, and activist media traditions to explore the detention of migrant children in the United States and the growing movement to end it.
